Candle Facts

Burning natural candles made from vegetable (soy) and plants (palm) waxes

versus

Burning candles made with paraffin and paraffin blends:

Don't let anyone fool you.

After much research, we came to the conclusion that burning paraffin was like poisoning our families and the environment.

So, we decided to only deal with natural products.

We have created a cleaner burning candle using special
blends of Soy/Palm Waxes.

Unlike paraffin candles no toxins are emitted from our candles;

and very little, if any soot will be seen with our candles.

Unlike paraffin, our candles are environmentally friendly, and
comes from
natural, renewable resources.

Oil Scents vs. Alcohol Scents

Moon Pie Candles & Soaps uses only fragrance oils

Alcohol based scents quickly burn off, leaving you with an unscented candle.

Your candle's scent will last to the last drop of wax.

Cotton Wicks versus Lead Core Wicks

All our Candles are made with LEAD FREE wicks.

In fact, you won't find any type of metal in our products.

We decided at the beginning to use braided cotton wicks.

Moon Pie Candles Burn Approximately 9 Hours Per Ounce of Wax!!

10 oz. candles – 90 Hours

*There was a study done by Iowa University as to emissions of different waxes, released in January of 2001. Two known carcinogens were found in paraffin - Benzene and Toulene.

*A report was issued by the Agricultural Engineering Department at Purdue University, it stated: "Paraffin contains aromatic compounds which are released when candles are burned that are detrimental to health. Paraffin candles release carcinogens when they are burned." Petro-soot is as harmful as second-hand tobacco smoke. (See Wall St. Journal, front page, 3/31/99: Gap Sued for Candle Soot.)

*The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) has been receiving numerous reports about black petroleum carbon soot deposits from paraffin candles. According to a research study by the Consumer Study group, Smith and Kline, 7 out of 10 homes burn paraffin candles on a regular basis. The National Home Builders Association states that this has far reaching implications, effecting millions of homes. This causes millions of dollars in home repainting costs and is potentially a very significant health problem.
