FengShui (pronounced "fungshway") is a design system for arranging your surroundings in harmony and balance with the natural world around you. The literal translation is "wind and water."
Feng Shui handles five main elements in order to achieve harmony and balance in any space. These five feng shui elements are metal, wood, fire, earth and water. Each element has its own characteristics and properties which combine to generate what you wish.
North is Water (Power) which is necessary for the growth of Wood. Northeast is for knowledge East is Wood (Protection) Wood is fuel for Fire. Southeast is for wealth South is Fire (Energy) is burned and returns to Earth Southwest is for relationships The Center is Earth (Peace) which solidifies into Metal West is Metal which goes on to create. Northwest is compassion for others.
After some research, I came across a Feng Shui practitioner by the name of Carol Olmstead. In short, Carol Olmstead, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, explains feng shui this way: Your surroundings have a powerful effect on what you attract into your life. When the energy around you is blocked or unbalanced, your prosperity, relationships, health, and well-being can be affected. When the energy is balanced, good things naturally flow into your life.
Carol sets out that "FengShui For Real Life" is an approach to FengShui that creates balance in your life and work through appropriate placement of the objects around you in regard to shape, color, size, and texture.
