Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.  That means no lighted candles on the coffee table or dining room table when you are not around to supervise at ALL times.

Always burn candles on a heat resistant surface. 

Do not place a burning candle on wicker or wood holder. 

Be sure to remove all labeling and floral decorations before lighting your candle.

Trim wicks to ¼" before burning and keep wicks trimmed to ¼" at all times, during your burning session.

Never burn candles when less than ½" of wax remains in the container.  To do so you risk the chance of the container over heating and breaking!

Keep candles away from drafts, vents and flammable objects.  (Like curtains, clothing and kitty's tail)

Use only candleholders manufactured for use with candles.  To use anthing else risks the chance of the container breaking, which will possibly release the hot wax and flames to a flamable surface.

Keep matches and other debris out of the candles.  This will keep the flame contained on the wick, and ensure the beauty of your candle.

Extinguish the flame if it burns too close to the container or holder.  Sometimes wicks do shift, if this happens, blow it out, and while the wax is liquid, take a pencil and move the wick back to the center of the candle.  Do not use your finger!

Do not move a jar candle when the wax is liquid.  Although the wax will not burn you, it can still be messy to clean up, and the dye may stain fabric and carpeting.

When using tea lights in plastic cups, only use tea light holders which are no taller than the plastic tea light cup.  If you set it in a taller votive holder or in an enclosed tart warmer, the plastic may get too hot and ignite!  For this reason, I also make tea lights in metal cups which are safe to use in votive containers and enclosed tart warmers.

When burning two or more pillar candles, be sure to set them at least 12 inches apart - otherwise the outside of the pillars may melt due to the combined heat.

REMEMBER:  Candles are never to be burned out of sight - never light them in a bathroom or a bedroom unless you are observing the candle burning at all times.   Countless homes and lives have been lost because of a burning candle being left unattended!
